Zones

Zone 1: critically ill patients. It includes the 3 “Resus” cubicles (inc. Resus 1 that is equipped for Paediatric resuscitation)

Zone 2A : less ill but still acute presentations, including 2 cubicles for mental health presentations

Zone 2B: less ill but still acute presentations, including 2 single rooms, termed the “plaster” and “theatre” rooms, although none of either happens in these rooms!

EMU: ED short stay unit for patients needing 24-48 hours of care, while remaining under the care of the emergency team

Fast track: Less complex presentations e.g. minor injuries & single system illnesses. Staffed on most days by our senior General practitioners and Nurse practitioners.
